WHO WE ARE

VisitAble was started by Joe Jamison in August 2019 during his time as an undergraduate student at UVA. Having a father who lives with paraplegia, naturally he was motivated to help those with disabilities. He noticed the lack of available accessibility information and disability etiquette while visiting different locations. Using his experiences with his father, the knowledge gained from earning the Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies certificate, and countless feedback from many others with varying types of disabilities, he developed a database of accessibility information along with comprehensive certification programs centered around disability inclusion and user experience, not only Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance.

To boost self-advocacy of the disability community, as well as scalability and awareness of its certifications, VisitAble also created a mystery guest program so that people with disabilities could be directly involved in the disability inclusion improvements in their communities.
